Recent Progress!

Despite the busy holiday season, the Arroyo Food Co-op founding team has been making significant progress.

After the October 10th membership launch meeting we’ve tabled at three events (Art on Palm, Green Fair and twice at Equinox Gym), held two socials (Yoga House and Pinocchio’s Pizza), a team retreat, a house party and a volunteer orientation. This is in addition to our normal “office hours” most Friday nights.

The product sourcing team has organized their first meeting and the membership team recently held their first. We’ve had 10,000 membership brochures printed (on FSC-certified stock). Our attorney has approved the idea of on-line memberships and we’re working on adding this to our web site.

Our internet numbers have continued to increase. Web site registrations are up (374) and our Facebook page has gotten more fans (292). We had 1,296 unique visitors to our site last month (a 32% increase over October).

But the really big news is that the California Secretary of State’s office has approved and filed our articles of incorporation! This means that we’re officially a business. One of the next steps is to decide upon a bank and open an account. The finance team has been doing a comparison of local credit unions and banks so we can make an informed choice.

To all the folks that have joined so far, thanks for your patience! Your checks will be cashed soon.

We’re working on new events for the upcoming year, but it’s a little hard for people to put in a lot of time right now. So you might not hear too much from us in over the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for your interest in the Co-op!
Patrick
